Community Care Fetac Level 5

Business Studies Fetac Level 5

The aim of the course is to equip the student with the necessary skills required to work in an office environment – be it the traditional office, the banking sector, the government, etc.  The College has extensive links with many businesses in the locality and further afield and there are excellent work placement figures on completion of the course.  One also has the opportunity of pursuing further studies at the Institutes of Technology and exemptions are given in relation to some modules that have been undertaken.

The course is a one year full time programme.  On Wednesdays there is a half day in the college.  Study periods are also timetabled.

The students also engage in two weeks work experience in relevant employment in the locality.  During these two weeks valuable contacts can be made for future work.

The students will have the opportunity to enter for the following Fetac awards::
Business Studies
Business Studies – Secretarial and/or Business Studies - Administration

Certificates as offered by FETAC. 
Eight modules (to include Work Experience and English/Communications) are required for the Business Studies Certificate. 
Four extra modules (to include Text Production, Word Processing and Information and Administration) are required for Business Studies – Secretarial.

Book-Keeping Computerised Accounts
Spreadsheets (The opportunity to utilise Microsoft Excel)
Database (The opportunity to utilise Microsoft Access)
Audio-Transcription (Typing from the spoken work)
Payroll Manual & Computerised (Looking after wages/salaries)

The modules are examinable by way of written and oral assignments and examinations throughout the year and/or at the end of the year.

Previous knowledge of computers is not required.

 

Multimedia Production Award FETAC Level 5

The aim of this course is to provide the student with the knowledge and skills to undertake all the stages involved in the authoring of interactive multimedia projects, and in the many ways one can utilise information technology for web design, image processing, etc.  This will enable students to obtain employment in many different areas of IT and Multimedia, including Design, Advertising, Website Design and Building, Digital Movie, preparing presentations for business or pleasure, or to pursue further studies at one of the country’s Institutes of Technology.

The course is a one year full-time programme.  On Wednesdays there is a half-day in the college. 

The students also engage in work experience in relevant employment in the locality.  During work experience valuable contacts can be made for future work.

Childcare FETAC Level 5

 

The aim of this course is to facilitate individuals who wish to pursue employment in childcare related fields as well as preparing one for further study.  The career options open to those who successfully complete the course include: assistants in crèches, nurseries, pre-schools and playschools.  The course requirements for this course include: Leaving Certificate or equivalent, interview and/or reference.  Before the commencement of the course each candidate will have to undergo a suitability assessment.

The course is a one year full-time programme.  On Wednesdays there is a half-day in the college.  Study periods are also timetabled.

The students also engage in 2 days a week (Tues and Wed) relevant employment in the locality.  During this time valuable contacts can be made for future work.
